Path of the OblationThe "Oblation" is a symbol of the University of the Philippines (UP), my country's national university. It embodies one's desire to "offer oneself" for the good of the nation. The banner photo bears the artwork "Atang" by Darnay Demetillo at UP Baguio, the constituent unit of UP in the northern Philippines. Atang, or "offering" in the local dialect, symbolizes, in the same way the Oblation does, the passion of the northern indigenous peoples to offer oneself for the nation.
In a country where providing quality education continues to be a big challenge to nation-building, teaching in the academe remains more of a calling than a career. Indebted to the Filipino people for supporting my higher education, I have chosen a path of service through teaching at UP Baguio, starting as a tutor at the UP Baguio Learning Resource Center (LRC), then as an instructor from 2010 to 2014, I have also served as coordinator of the LRC, where I worked with talented and dedicated students in providing academic support and resources to other students, |
